🌟Celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month with Dorothy Guillen!
Dorothy Guillen arrived in St. Louis 10 years ago with limited English skills but a strong desire to learn and continue growing professionally in the finance field. The journey was not easy; after many unsuccessful interviews, Dorothy finally landed a first job as an auditor.
While working, Dorothy was also completing an MBA, a significant achievement and something she is really proud of, considering the diploma was earned just 2.5 years after arriving to St. Louis.
As a result of her hard work, she was able to build her way to become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in International Accounting/Finance. This led her to be part of the Executive Team of a major French pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing firm. Although it was a successful career, She decided to find a balance between work and personal life, and started her entrepreneurial journey six months ago. She followed her passion for baking to offer her community delicious breads and pastries without additives. Something she learned from her heritage in Colombia.
Dorothy’s story is a testament to perseverance and dedication. The determination to overcome language barriers and achieve professional goals is inspiring and reflects the strength and resilience of immigrants everywhere.
